Alpine plateau with rustic huts and a fabulous view
You will be enchanted by the original stone huts of the Bergeries de Cappellaccia which huddle together, at times having the appearance of a little castles. You find yourselves here at the highest point of the extensive Alzo plateau where you can enjoy fabulous panoramic views reaching from Monte Rotondo across Punta Artica and Paglia Orba as far as Cinto.
Location: Corte, 396m.
Starting point: car park on both sides of the road at the Pont de Frasseta, 900m, about 350m before the Pont de Tra­gone (first road bridge over the Restonica, 11km from Corte).
Height difference: a good 800m.
Grade: mostly comfortable ascent on a well-marked mule path.
Refreshment and accommodation: in the Restonica valley and Corte.
Alternatives: ascent to the summit of Forcelle, 1765m (see photo below; ½ hr.). From the Bergeries de Cappellaccia, head in an easterly direction, somewhat to the left and below the ridge, to meet the saddle at the ridgeline on the way to the peak (¼ hr.); continue through a couloir and then, in a direct line, ascend to the summit (the final metres require easy scrambling). 
The walk can be extended to a two-day trek: from the Bergerie d’Alzo via the forestry house of Alzo to the Refuge de Sega (1 hr., overnight stop), from there either through the Tavignano valley down to Corte (Walk 65), via Bocca â l’Arinella to Casamaccioli or via the Lac de Nino to the Poppaghia forestry house (Walk 66).
