Balogna is a typical mountain village built up against a rocky cliff. It is part of the Deux-Sorru region and is the only village with Coggia and Appriciani facing the sea.

This municipality has an area of 27.75 km2. The village is quite large, built in layers against the cliffs, it consists of pink granite houses connected by stone stairs. The rest of the habitat is located beyond the Saint-Antoine pass, in the Liamone valley.

Its history is notably marked by the Leca noble family, who founded the place, and by the Genoese domination, which strongly influenced its development.

The main visible monument is the old Santu Quilicus church build in the Tuscan country style.
