Difficulty: easy
Type: loop
Duration: 3 h
Length: n/a
Difference in height: 250 m
Starting point: Ajaccio
Road access
To reach the starting point of this walk you must reach the hamlet of Acqua Doria from Ajaccio. Two hundred metres after having left the hamlet you must turn right towards Capu di Muru and Cala d'Orzu. After one kilometre, you must turn right and continue for two and a half kilometres. You can park your car in the hamlet of Cascionu, after the small bar. Pay attention: this car park is very small and it is better to leave early if you want to find space in particular during the summer period!
Description
This walk is perfect for everyone as the difference in height is minimal and the path is in excellent condition, even if it may be a little hidden by vegetation. You will discover the Capu di Muro tower (which was built by the Republic of Genoa between 1580 and 1617 and which is still in very good condition), the Punta di Capu di Muru (from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the Gulf of Ajaccio) and the small chapel of the Madonuccia.
After having parked your car you must take the path from which you can already see two towers and, when the weather is particularly good, the island of Asinara – which is an Italian island that forms the watershed between the Sardinian Sea and the Gulf of Asinara. Start walking and when you will run into a crossroads turn left: you must take the path downhill. Do not hesitate to cross a barrier and continue walking for about 30 minutes until you reach a second crossroads: you must turn right. Walk until you reach the tower, which you can visit. Then you can return directly to the car (round-trip) or continue walking until you reach the Madonuccia chapel (loop).
